Is Sucina a good place to Buy a Property?

By in Articles with 0 Comments

We’re always being asked questions like: is Sucina a good place to buy a property? Or, should I buy an apartment in Alicante? At Beckett Hanlon, we don’t have an easy answer for you, but we can help you come to your own decision based on our years of experience handling property sales throughout Spain’s major towns, cities and villages.

To give you a handle on whether Sucina is the right place for you, we’ve outlined some major considerations and highlights for one of the most beautiful villages in Spain.

Where is Sucina?

Not everyone has heard of Sucina, but all who have been there have fallen in love with it’s simple charm. If you’re a fan of authentic Spanish culture and low key residential areas, Sucina offers a lot to individuals or families looking to buy a property in Spain.

Inside the region of Murcia, Sucina is a village with a population of around two thousand people. It’s around 29 kilometres from Murcia centre and many residential areas have been developed throughout the village and surrounding countryside. This small village is also located 15 minutes inland from the coastal city of San Javier and is surrounded by attractive resorts and many popular golf courses.

Also, San Javier Airport is just 20 minutes away by car, while Murcia International Airport can be reached in just under 30 minutes.

What Can You Find in Sucina?

Visiting Sucina for the first time, you’ll no doubt be impressed by the olive groves lined with attractive cacti. In fact, olives form one of the town’s main sources of revenue, which are exported along with almonds, melons, wheat, artichokes, beans, lemons and tomatoes. This alone should give you a sense of the kind of place Sucina is, which is far from the busy tourist and financial hubs found in other parts of the country.

For those who choose to live here, there are plentiful restaurants, bars and cafes and small shops, plus several other classic Spanish amenities such as a fishmonger and butchers.

If you’re bringing your children with you, you’ll be pleased to know there are also several schools in the village which are popular with local expats. And some even offer the British curriculum, such as the British School of Murcia and El Limonar International School, which can be reached in under 30 minutes.

How Busy is Sucina?

Many are concerned Sucina is too quiet for their tastes. But quiet isn’t a bad thing necessarily. Compared to places like Alicante that can become quite busy during heavy tourist periods, Sucina is on the more relaxed side of things and offers only a modest collection of activities and nightlife opportunities. Living costs here are low compared to some of the more popular coastal resorts, and property offers good value for money.

Due to increased interest from expats, the village has changed considerably over the last few years with the influx of several nationalities moving into the area. There are a handful of new bars and restaurants that cater to both locals and expats. And for more fun, your best bet is to head to the coast, where the leisure and tourist industry provide fairly regular opportunities for drinking, eating, dancing and all the things we love from the Spanish coast. Alternatively, you can also travel to the nearby city of Murcia.

Should I Buy a Property in Sucina?

Sucina offers a mix of old and new properties, with apartments, villas, and townhouses that offer great charm and beauty. We’ve seen a spike in interest for older Sucina villas for sale over recent years and properties that offer great space, location and natural character continue to be in high demand.

Having said this, if you’re patient and know where to look, you can pick up an amazing property for good value within an authentic Spanish community. You can also find some great deals for apartments in newer developments that cater to the growing demand for property in the area.
