In the last few weeks, at BeckettHanlon we have noticed a sharp increase in the number of people in the UK enquiring about homes for sale in Spain, despite the fact that there are fears over Covid-19.
It seems that such fears are largely due to UK government figures, but these can vary wildly, since the Mediterranean area of Spain has very low figures in cities like Alicante compared with those in the North East. The facts are that Covid-19 deaths are decreasing rapidly in many countries: for instance, overall deaths – that’s ALL deaths – in the UK it has been lower in the last six weeks than they have over the previous five years! That’s despite Covid-19.
We think that people who have been in lockdown for three months have been remembering the wonderful holidays that they have had in Spain for many years and begun to realise that there is a lot to be said for 320 days of sunshine a year, mild winters, the very laid-back “manana” way of life, great food, and overall living expenses a lot less than in the UK.
And why not? Why battle through at least an hour’s commuting in the equivalent of a cattle truck twice a day to go back to the office? It’s no fun at all.
If you are thinking of looking for an Alicante townhouse for sale or Alicante apartments for sale, at BeckettHanlon we can offer you plenty of choice. We have been locating the perfect properties in Alicante and the surrounding area for over 20 years for UK residents who have had enough, and are looking for a far more relaxed way of life. Indeed, as a result of lockdown, there are many people who have found that they can earn a very good living on the internet working from home.
It’s a great life. You have no alarm clock, no commute, no boss telling you what to do, and you can work when and if you feel like it, and not if you don’t. It is quite possible to earn many times what you did in a J.O.B. (also known as Just Over Broke) working only a couple of hours a day on the internet.
If you have found the perfect Alicante townhouse for sale and taken the plunge, you can spend the rest of the day doing whatever you please out in the sun. There are super beaches where you can soak up the sun, or you could spend all day wandering through the cobbled streets of El Barrio – the old town – with traditional Spanish apartments decked with flowers and no end of bars and cafes and restaurants. It sure beats fighting your way into the city centre five days a week to a job that you probably don’t like all that much, and getting a 2% salary increase every year if you’re lucky. If you are on the average wage, that equates to about £11.50 – perhaps two pints and a large G&T. Don’t spend it all at once!
So if you are looking for Alicante apartments for sale, or even a villa, talk to us at BeckettHanlon. We will find you the perfect home in the sun.
